Close to your Waitangi accommodation and the famous Waitangi Treaty Grounds is the Waitangi Golf Club, a stunning 18 hole golf course providing an exciting and ever-changing challenge to the golfer, but also has one of the most commanding panoramas of sea and island views.
The views are complemented by well-groomed greens and fairways, surrounded by areas of flowering native trees providing a haven for many varieties of native birds. By international reputation the Waitangi Golf Club is regarded as "a true millionaire's country for everyone to enjoy".

The Waitangi River flows through the historic settlement of Waitangi reaching the Bay of Islands. Travelling up river will lead you to the majestic Haruru Falls, a peaceful spot retaining its unique charm. On most summer days you will be able to kayak to the falls, giving yourself a day to enjoy the scenery and waterways.
Local hapu Ngati Rahiri are the guardians (kaitiaki) of the Waitangi River and offer wonderful stories associated with their ancestors who once travelled the waterways. We hope to bring you these stories during your stay with us at Waitangi Holiday Park.

Within a short distance from Waitangi Holiday Park is the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, overlooking the Bay of Islands. Here you will find the historic Treaty House built for the first British resident, James Busby and his family. The Treaty House is one of New Zealand's oldest historic homes.
The Waitangi National Trust administer and manage the Treaty Grounds comprising of 506 hectares gifted to the nation by Lord and Lady Bledisloe in 1932.

Haruru Falls Walk
This superb 6km walking trail takes you on a 2.5 hour (one way) journey through mangroves and bush tracks. You can start your walk from the Waitangi Holiday Park over the Waitangi Bridge with the track entrance signposted on the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. This is a relatively easy walk through bush and a boardwalk section passing through a mangrove forest.
You can make the return journey home to Waitangi Holiday Park along the same track or try one of the other link walks.
Waitangi to Kerikeri Foot Trail (Forest Walk)
A 20km walking trail passing through the Waitangi Endowment Forest, part of New Zealand’s conservation estate. The walk crosses through commercial forest and follows the route of an old Maori trail linking a former Maori settlement of Okura with Waitangi. Be aware of commercial activity, horse and mountain bike riders. The entrance is from the Waitangi Treaty Grounds leading you to Cobham Road in Kerikeri. This walk is very well signposted.
